Workshop on Article Writing @ Kaziranga

A workshop on Article Writing with the theme Biodiversity was successfully conducted at the Convention Centre, Kohora, Kaziranga, jointly organized by Kaziranga National Park and Azim Premji University. The aim of the workshop was to enhance the writing skills of participants while fostering a deeper understanding of biodiversity and the urgent need for its conservation.

Participants were hosted at the Forest Guest House, where the natural surroundings of Kaziranga National Park offered the perfect backdrop for learning and inspiration.

The workshop began with an engaging orientation session, where participants were given a creative and inspiring task: to write a story based on the theme of biodiversity. This exercise helped break the ice and allowed participants to express their imagination while reflecting on real environmental concerns.

The workshop featured expert-led sessions on article writing and research paper writing, focusing on structure, clarity, purpose, and scientific relevance. These sessions equipped students with practical tools to communicate environmental issues effectively through both creative and academic writing.

The sessions were conducted by an esteemed panel of resource persons:

Dr. Sonali Ghosh, IFS and Field Director of Kaziranga National Park

Dr. Harini Nagendra, renowned ecologist and professor

Dr. Samudragupta Kashyap, Chancellor of Nagaland University

Bonti Saikia, environmental communicator from Green Hub, an organization that documents and films stories about nature and conservation

Peter John, conservation expert

Niraj Kakati, representative from WWF

A special feature of the workshop was the two-day field visit into the interiors of Kaziranga National Park. During the excursion, students were introduced to a wide range of flora and fauna, including various species of plants, birds, reptiles, and iconic animals like the one-horned rhinoceros, swamp deer, wild water buffalo, and elephants. These firsthand experiences in the wild provided powerful inspiration and context for the writing tasks assigned during the workshop.

The workshop concluded with positive feedback from the participants, many of whom expressed a strong desire to continue using their writing to support biodiversity and conservation. The collaboration between Kaziranga National Park and Azim Premji University, supported by expert facilitators, made the workshop a meaningful and memorable journey into the world of environmental writing.
